Mom's Tomato SauceMom's sauce, this sauce was everyone's favorite, even when mom used to be at the hospital her nurses wanted her sauce recipe. She was the best cook ever.
2 28oz Cans of Tomato Puree 4 Tablespoons of sugar 6 leaves of fresh basil 1 medium onion sliced 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil or olive oil 2- 3/4 cans of Water (save 1 can to fill with cold water) In a big pot heat up oil, once oil is heated add onions,saute till onion is translucent but don't burnPour tomato puree,use one of the tomato puree and fill it 3/4 of the way with water and add to the sauce 2 times (2- 3/4 cans of water) stir all together.if you like thicker sauce use a 1/2 can of water.Let sauce cook in medium heat for 10 minutes or so then add the sugar and basil stir and simmer on low to medium heat for another 45 minutes stirring occasionally....
